Within this project a prototype of a pedestrian warning system should be developed. This prototype is composed of a EVK-3300 communication model (see above) from Kapsch, which acts as road side unit (RSU), and an arbitrary number of smartphones. On each of these smartphone an application is running in the background which transmits the current position to the RSU once it detects its signal (e.g. via WLAN). The RSU determines whether the received position is located within a danger zone (e.g. on the street) and sends a „pedestrian warning“ message to all vehicles in the immediate surrounding if necessary.
Im Zuge dieses Projekts soll ein Prototyp eines Fußgänger-Warnsystems entwickelt werden. Dieses besteht aus einem EVK-3300 Kommunikationsmodul (siehe oben), welches als RSU (= „Road Side Unit“) agiert, der Fa. Kapsch sowie ein oder mehreren Smartphones. Auf den Smartphones läuft eine Applikation im Hintergrund, welche, sobald sie das Signal der RSU empfängt (z.B. via WLAN), die aktuellen Positionsdaten an die RSU übermittelt. Diese wertet daraufhin aus, ob sich die jeweilige Position innerhalb eines Gefahrenbereichs (z.B. auf einer Straße) befindet, und schickt im Falle einer Gefährdungssituation eine „Pedestrian Warning“-Nachricht an Fahrzeuge in der unmittelbaren Umgebung aus.
